- Drive on the right!!


What do I need to know about Austrian motorways and expressways?

- If you plan to use the Austrian motorways and expressways, you will need to buy a motorway tax sticker ('vignette').

- Stick this on your car's front windscreen and then drive on!

- If you rent a car within Austria, check that it comes equipped with this sticker.

- If not, you can buy these at border crossings, fuel stations or most post offices.

- You can decide whether you want a sticker with a validity of one year, two months or 10 days.

- By way of warning, the penalty for not displaying a tax sticker is €120 for cars and €65 for motorcycles. Not a nice surprise when you are on holidays...


What are the Speed Limits in Austria?

- Motorways: 130kph/80mph

- Open roads: 100kph/62mph

- Town Centres: 50kph/31mph
