Honeymooning In Salzburg
During the hassle of the wedding preparations, the honeymoon plans slipped my mind. I had been busy with planning the entire ceremony – from the church settings to the dinner party outside the Plaza. Edward, my fiancé, had kept mum as well the entire time. But the next day of my wedding day, he gave me an unforgettable surprise by taking to me Salzburg, Austria for our honeymoon.
The beautiful city of Salzburg has the perfect setting for tourism and for any couple seeking romance. I found the city an impeccable choice for my honeymoon. We stayed at the Hotel Stein, which was adjacent with the banks of the breathtaking Salzach River. The hotel gave us a panoramic city view from the vast rooftop terrace where we would go every night to enjoy the city lights.
Apart from the hotel, I fell in love with the beautiful Baroque architecture since I have majored in architecture. The palaces and the churches of this city marveled us both. With the addition of the soaring Hohensalzburg Fortress to it, the city was picturesque. I felt like I had stepped into the past whenever we headed out for a walk across the cobbled side-streets, yet the manicured gardens surrounding Palace Mirabelle and Palace Hellburn gave a modern impact at sight. The culture of Salzburg remained vivacious throughout each part we visited - from the scrumptious food, to the friendly people. Every morning, we both made sure to have coffee and chocolate Sacher Torte at any of the cafés near the hotel. Our 7-day trip could not have been better if we had gone elsewhere.
When we returned to Toronto, I felt like I had left a piece of my heart in Salzburg. It was surely a memorable trip. We had taken enough pictures to hold onto and embedded memories within our thoughts that we will cherish forever.
