The Sound of Music Tour - a great way to be introduced to the beautiful locations in Salzburg where the famous film was made - in the city centre, and out in the countryside. The locations were chosen because they were either factually correct - relative to the true life story - or they just looked superb! Whatever the case, take some time to tour the Sound of Music palaces, gardens, churches and lakes that were to be the real stars in the film.
Here are the top sights to see! The Benedictine Convent on Nonnberg - Where Julie Andrews sings 'Maria'. In real life, it is where where the Baron and Maria were married in 1927.
Residenz Square and Residenz Fountain - Where Maria crosses the Residenz square on her way from Nonnberg Convent to the Von Trapp residence singing 'I have confidence in me.'
![]() Leopoldskron Palace - The façade was used to represent the Von Trapp residence.
![]() Hellbrunn Palace - Home to the Glass Pavilion where 'I am 16 going on 17' was sung by the 'lovely Liezl'. Originally this was located at Leopoldskron Palace.
![]() Mirabell Gardens and Mirabell Palace - Where Maria and the children sing 'Do-Re-Mi'.
![]() Felsenreitschule - Where the Von Trapp Family perform their farewell song 'Edelweiss' before slipping away
![]() St. Peter's Cemetery - Where the final flight scenes were filmed.
